10th PERMAS Users' Conference in 2010

Biggest conference since its start about 20 years ago

On April 22nd and 23rd, 2010, the 10th PERMAS Users' Conference took place in Stuttgart (at Filderhalle in Leinfelden-Echterdingen) with 160 participants from 13 countries. 18 presentations from different fields covered a big part of PERMAS functionalities.

An important part of the conference was dedicated to the new PERMAS Version 13 and the new VisPER Version 2 which will be shipped to the customers soon. Among others major achievements include:

  • New algorithm to handle gasket elements in engine analysis with very high run time improvements
  • Completion of integrated optimization features by shape optimization and bead optimization with VisPER as pre- and post-processor to set up the optimization model
  • New analysis module with additional optimization algorithms even for the optimization of nonlinear application cases (like contact surface optimization)
  • Extension of modelling capabilities in VisPER for material and geometrical data
  • Post-processing of spotweld forces in VisPER

The contents of the conference program was as follows:

  • Acoustic simulation at Daimler Trucks - Virtual transfer path analysis; R. Visser, Daimler AG
  • TMF analysis with visco-plastic material behavior on the example of a grey cast cylinder head; U. Flüeler, FIAT Powertrain Technologies
  • Dynamic simulation in mechanical engineering - Possibilities and limits of the Finite Element Method; A. Melchinger, INDEX-Werke Gmbh & Co. KG Hahn & Tessky
  • New features in PERMAS - Overview on PERMAS Version 13; R. Fischer, INTES GmbH
  • Status of VisPER - Overview on VisPER Version 2; O. Sommer, science + computing AG
  • PERMAS and VisPER optimization case studies of HVAC parts during the ProGRID project; D. Links, Behr GmbH & Co. KG
  • Simulation of frictionally engaged assemblies under periodic loads; W. Herter, ZF Friedrichshafen AG
  • Thermomechanical analysis of an exhaust turbocharger housing with PERMAS; C. Oberste-Brandenburg, A. Klein, A. Schäffler, BorgWarner Turbo Systems Engineering GmbH; M. Klein, INTES GmbH
  • Breakthrough in high performance engine analysis - Gasket elements in contact analysis; M. Ast, S. Hüeber, M. Klein, INTES GmbH
  • Weight optimization of a gear wheel considering the manufacturing process and cyclic symmetry; U. Heiselbetz, Daimler AG
  • Two different approaches for topology optimisation in a mechatronic context; C. Ballauf, G. Leuck, Siemens Linear Motor Systems
  • Advanced optimization solvers - Overview and applications; D. Diehl, INTES GmbH
  • Dynamic analysis of components with flexible rotating fans; A. Boersma, T. Heckenberger, W. Kühnel, D. Links, Behr GmbH & Co. KG
  • Numerical design of dynamically highly loaded gasoline chain saws and power tools; W. Ganzert, ANDREAS STIHL AG & Co. KG
  • Modelling of launchers' solid propellant in structural dynamics analysis; X. Kerbrat, O. Finkler Astrium Space Transportation
  • EXPAMTION: EXperimentation of numerical simulation facilities shared by the mechatronics design supply chain; M. Henner, Ph. Goge, Valeo Engine Cooling; J. Marchesini, INTES France
  • Fluid-structure-acoustic simulation of air intake systems; C. Feuchter, R. Handel, A. Enderich, MAHLE Filtersysteme GmbH
  • Interior noise simulation of a sport utility vehicle; D. Vidal, Intes GmbH
