- PERMAS Online Training in autumn
We are offering three of our standard training courses in autumn on fixed dates in English and online. The online training courses take place in the mornings (CET), with a classic training day always being divided into two mornings. The dates of these training courses can be seen in our training calendar and on the training page on our Homepage. Our training program provides detailed information on the content of all available training courses.
The training dates:
• October 17-20: PERMAS Basics
• October 24-27: Dynamics I + II
• November 14-15: Contact Analysis Basics
In addition to the training program, you will find the online registration on our homepage as well as a registration form. You can flexibly choose between the two registration options. If you are interested in a training course, we ask you to register at least 2 weeks before the respective training date. - New Dynamics Special Topics
Due to the ongoing specialization and the constant expansion of topics in the field of dynamics, we are now offering three additional half-day training courses on special topics:
• Rotating Systems
• Random Vibrations
• Nonlinear Dynamics / Harmonic Balance Method
These can be booked as individual online training courses in German or English. We would be happy to advise you on the new training topics. We look forward to your inquiry. The dynamics training courses I and II will continue to be offered and serve as basic training for PERMAS in dynamics. - Individual Training Overview
We offer individual training courses throughout the year, either in German or English, online or at our office in Stuttgart. The dates are coordinated individually. We offer these training courses starting from 2 participants for EUR 980 per training day. The topics range from generative design, additive manufacturing, sampling, harmonic balance method and fast contact solvers to fatigue life calculation.
This are the lectures in detail (events):
- 13./14. March 2023: NAFEMS Seminar "Robust Design & DoE mit realen Defekten" in Munich : "Advanced Sampling Techniques for Synchroneous Whirl of a Rotor subjected to uncertainties" und "DoE To Extend Knowledge about NVH Behavior of Braking Systems" vertreten.
- 15. - 18. May 2023: NAFEMS World Congress in Tampa, Florida, USA: "Design Space Exploration and Optimization of Structures under Consideration of Buckling Conditions", "Contact Analysis in EV Applications", "Generative Design - Topology Optimization from CAD to CAD", "Standardized Testing with Simulation Support in Structural Dynamics", "The Harmonic Balance Method and its Applications in Structural Dynamics", "Product validation with High Performance Simulations", "Benefits from Integrating Fatigue Analysis into the FEM Solver" and "Weight Optimization of Transmission Housings" vertreten.
As every year we have tried to virtually work on a seasonal topic.
Harmonic Balance is the topic of this year:
A Christmas bell is rung by a harmonic bouncing of a clapper onto the bell surface considering nonlinear contact conditions. The clapper excites the bell due to a prescribed sinusoidal movement which constant frequency lies near the first resonance frequency of the bell at 110 Hz. All deformation and acoustic results are analyzed by Harmonic Balance Method combined with Time History analysis.
The animation on the left side shows the proportion of acoustic sound radiation power for the forth harmonic vibration of all single frequencies in a range between 90 Hz to 130 Hz.
The animation on the right side shows the ringing of the bell in time domain. Therefore all considered harmonics are proportionately superimposed in one period for the selected excitation frequency at 110 Hz.
In order to contribute to environmental protection, we donate to the WWF for the "Stop the Plastic Flood" project to reduce plastic waste in the seas.
We wish you a healthy, peaceful, and secure new year 2023.

Die German Association for Computational Mechanics reports on PERMAS for Education.
The German Association for Computational Mechanics (GACM) is a non-governmental association. The objective of GACM is to stimulate and promote education, research and practice in computational mechanics and computational methods in applied sciences, to foster the interchange of ideas among various fields contributing to computational mechanics, and to provide forums and meetings for the dissemination of knowledge about computational mechanics in Germany.
The next PERMAS Users’ Conference will also take place as a virtual meeting.
We cordially invite you to talk about your applications and experiences with PERMAS/VisPER. Whether new or proven simulation topics, every area of application offers interesting aspects that deserve it to be exposed. We look forward to each of your suggestions.
We ourselves would also be curious to learn more about your experiences with e.g.:
- Contact (multigrid),
- Optimization,
- Dynamics and fluid-structure acoustics,
- Design of electric vehicles or
- Nonlinear material.
A lively exchange of experiences is driven from your contributions. INTES will do its best to create a pleasant atmosphere during the event.
